I am proposing a building with a domestructure for an ecovillage in Denmark. The dome houses a sports court/lecture room and measures about 20 m in diameter. I am fascinated by the wild shapes of your "domes". Is it possible to build a well-insulated dome using your system?
Wild shapes is the right word. If you want to participate to the dressage you are welcome ;) About insulation have a look to: Mass production ConnectorsWood version Insulation and interior wall covering (I plan to adapt it in a metal version too). November 20th 2005: Done. With these shapes, circle is a possibility but not an obligation.

Is it a joint, a panel, a consruction method, a particular combination of details and materials, a building system? The images are rather abstract except for one node which seems to show a bolt connection of six metal tubes with flattenned ends. This is certainly not the system you propose to work with. What is it?

A: It s mainly: 1/ a doubly curved surface geometry which possess stability qualities contrary to simply curved surfaces or worse straight plans. 2/ These shapes are generated by identical elements (segments and triangles (or struts and panels)) allowing consequently mass production. Have a look to section called "Fundamental Research" and Peter Pearce link. Q: The images are rather abstract except for one node which seems to show a bolt connection of six metal tubes with flattenned ends. This is certainly not the system you propose to work with. What is it? A: I guess your incredulity. However,when strengths are not important and high precision is not required, it s the most classical, the simplest and the most economical assemblage system. For example in the case of "metal tube frame and fabric covers", tents or portable geodesic domes.
Secondary: 3/ After geometry, the most important is technical assemblage of this geometry. Have a look to section called "Connectors": Click on thumbnails (specially #2) and you will see some pretty solutions (and a movie). 4/ After assemblage comes imperviousness and insulating, but here any classical solutions can be used. Have a look to "covering" section. It s not necessary to invent new system,or not much...
And so, the whole propositions, as you said it above, becomes a global building system.
